Dan Martin lives construction.
He grew up working construction.
His dad, Ken, was a general contractor who left his impact all over East Orlando. Homes, subdivisions, apartment complexes, offices, and office parks scattered in the rectangle bounded by Colonial Drive, University Drive, SR436 and Alafaya Trail.
And when you're a contractor's son who would rather work his kids than pay for labor... you live construction.
As part of a construction family self-financing too much of the work (economic recessions hit hard), consequence, responsibility and accountability become part of your nature.
When Ken - hit by one too many economic downturn - pivoted to lower-risk cultured marble manufacturing and installation, Dan was his right-hand man, running the shop and working the field.
To this day, decades later, Dan is often the last man on site, making sure the product is quality and the customer well-served.
He busts butt to make sure it's done right. It's what he does. It's who he is.
